It's no surprise I love shaken espressos. My favorite year-round is the iced brown sugar shaken espresso. In 2023 Starbucks introduced the iced apple crisp shaken espresso to their fall seasonal menu and of course it was a drink I had to try to make at home. This coffee drink along with this pumpkin cream cold foam will definitely transition you to apple and fall season.

    Why you'll love this recipe

    • This Starbucks copycat iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk shaken espresso drink is easy to make at home for a fraction of the price
    • You can use the apple crisp syrup to also make an apple crisp macchiato and apple crisp latte too.
    • It's the perfect drink to say good-bye to summer and hello to fall

What is an iced shaken espresso

Iced shaken espresso is freshly brewed espresso shaken vigorously with ice cubes and sweetener (if using) in a mason jar or cocktail shaker to create a frothy texture. Then poured over more ice cubes and topped with milk.

    Ingredients and tools you'll need

    For the apple crisp syrup
Apple slices -sweet apples like gala, golden delicious, and fuji work great
Apple juice - for the syrup
Brown sugar for some sweetness - I use light brown sugar, but dark sugar works great too
Apple pie spice for that extra apple taste, but you can also use ground cinnamon instead
Cinnamon sticks - for that cinnamon taste
Apple butter- (optional) to add that extra apple punch

For the apple crisp shaken espresso
Espresso - freshly brewed double shot
Oat milk - I like using extra creamy oat milk, but you can also use milk of choice
Apple crisp syrup - for the apple crisp flavor
Ice cubes - to make it cold
Mason jar or cocktail shaker with lid to shake the espresso
Espresso machine ( I use this espresso machine), you can also use Nespresso, Moka pot, a French press or Aeropress portable espresso maker too.

How to make apple crisp oatmilk shaken espresso recipe

Step 1: Start by making the apple crisp syrup. In a small saucepan add sliced apples, cinnamon sticks, apple juice, apple pie spice and apple butter (optional). Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool down for a few minutes.

Step 2: Using a strainer pour the syrup into a large glass or bowl and transfer in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to be used. This recipe makes about one cup of apple crisp syrup and about 5 drinks if using 3 tablespoons per coffee drink.
