This is a refreshing, citrus-y, healthy, protein packed, and guilt-free smoothie
This long weekend was full of relaxation, nice warm weather, some cooking, some pizza, and lots of cheese and crackers. Umm yes, cheese + crackers sooo addicting! Now that Memorial three-day weekend has gone by, back to reality and back to work I go. So, that means quick protein smoothies for breakfast. Today, I’m sharing with you a healthy Piña Colada Protein Smoothie.
Let me just say that a real Piña Colada with booze is pretty darn good, but most times I just feel super guilty drinking one. The massive amounts of delicious sugar that one serving has, especially in those store bought pre-made piña colada mixes, is enough to ruin a week's worth of exercise. So to get my Colada fix, I sometimes opt for a guilt-free version that won’t harm that waistline (and I’m all for that). So, when I’m craving a refreshing, healthy, citrus-y, and filling drink, this Piña Colada Protein Smoothie is my go to.
- 8 oz Unsweetened coconut milk
- ¼ Cup piña colada non-fat yogurt
- ½ Cup frozen pineapple
- 1 Tables Spoon shredded unsweetened coconut
- 1 Packet of natural sweetener (for extra sweetness, optional)
- 1 Scoop vanilla whey
- Couple of ice cubes
- Place all ingredients in a blender
- Blend all ingredients until smooth and enjoy
This Piña Colada Protein Smoothie is so easy to make that it's perfect for a quick breakfast or lunch. I am big fan of coconut and all its health benefits. I love the citrus-y, and tropical flavors pineapple adds to the smoothie, in addition to the vitamin C benefits. The added whey protein gives it that extra oomph that will keep you full for longer.
All you need to create this simple masterpiece is frozen pineapple chunks, unsweetened coconut milk (I like using Silk Unsweetened Coconut Milk since it has no added sugars and is low in calories), piña colada non-fat yogurt, vanilla whey protein, and some ice cubes. Blend it all together until smooth and you are done my friend.

Thanks Sam! I know! Pina Coladas and the billion calories are only allowed on special occasions haha

Every time I look at a cocktail menu I'm desperate to order pina colada but I don't as I know it's so bad for me and don't want the guilt. Thanks so much for solving this issue! The smoothie looks delicious - lovely photos too!
Ana
Thanks Sophia. Feeling that guilt after drinking a sugary pina colada is never fun. Therefore, sometimes you have to go the healthier route or just have one glass of red wine 🙂 Let me know if you give this recipe a try:)
