Sardines ceviche is quick, fresh, and full of flavor. It’s a bright, citrusy dish that feels light but satisfying. It’s perfect for lunch, an easy appetizer, or anytime you want something refreshing without a lot of effort.
4.4ozCanned sardines — scale free in extra virgin olive oil (I like Wild Planet)
⅓ cupCucumber - ⅓ cup finely chopped
¼cupRed onion - finely diced
¼-1/3cupTomatoes - chopped
½Jalapeño (minced)seeded and ribs removed
⅛teaspoonGround cayenne pepper
1Juice of a lime
¼ teaspoonkosher salt (plus more to taste)
Pepper and garlic powder(to taste)
Garnish
Cilantro (optional)
Serving suggestions
Sea-salt tortilla chips (Siete brand - my personal favorite)
Tostadas
Saltine crackers
Lettuce wraps

Instructions
Chop all the ingredients and add them to a medium bowl
Place the sardines on top (without the olive oil juice or water), then use a fork to gently break them apart
Season with salt ¼ teaspoon of kosher salt and a couple shakes of garlic powder and pepper to taste and combine. Add cilantro on top to garnish (if using)
Serve with sea salt tortilla chips, tostadas or bed of lettuce
Notes
This recipe serves one which makes the perfect quick meal, but the recipe can be double, triple if using as an appetizer.*Cayenne pepper can be left out if you prefer more milder taste with less heat.
