Whole Wheat Pita Pizza

These whole wheat pita pizzas are a great healthier pizza alternative. They are low in calories and oozing in flavor.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 Flat whole wheat pita breads
  • 1 Teaspoon olive oil (optional)
  • 1 8 oz can no salt added tomato sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon minced garlic
  • ½ tablespoon parsley flakes
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup part skim mozzarella
  • Low-Sodium Turkey pepperoni
  • 1 8 oz can pineapple chunks

Instructions
 

  • Heat oven at 375 degrees
  • In a small bowl combine, tomato sauce, minced garlic, parsley and red pepper and set aside.
  • Lightly brush each pita with olive oil
  • Spread about 1-2 tablespoons of tomato sauce to each pita
  • Sprinkle cheese about ¼ cup of cheese per pita
  • Add turkey pepperoni, I used about 5-6 slices per pita
  • Add pineapple chunks to each pita
  • Place pitas on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until cheese is melted and crust slightly crispy
  • Cut into slices and enjoy!
